Xbox 360 Red Rings of Death - The Ultimate Gaming Horror

By Ved Parkash Garg .

There can be nothing more frustrating for a gamer, as the Xbox 360 red rings of death, a moment of horror when three red lights flash on the console button, indicating an internal problem, usually with a damaged hardware component. This could happen due to many causes, from a hardware or peripheral component device not working properly, to inadequate power generation from power supply. The console would not function anymore at that point, stopping you from completing the last level of Halo 3, as you rush to switch the console off.

There are many signs to the Xbox 360 red rings of death visible apart from the lights. There might be freeze up in middle of game play, distorted graphics and sounds on screen and jammed control options. The problem is usually caused due to insufficient power supply or cooling because the heat sink has been reduced in the console to accommodate drive. It is also seen due to a poor graphics chip design or inadequate solder joints, all combining to provide the fatal Xbox 360 rings of death.

There are several ways to avoid the Xbox 360 red rings of death. One should always provide adequate cooling options and keep console at places to ensure maximum air flow. The console should also be cleaned regularly to prevent dust particles and fiber from blocking air passage. The console should be allowed to shut down once in every few hours to prevent overheating. The problem has reportedly been addressed in the 60GB newer versions, but for those with the old one, it's still a frustrating and an expensive setback to their gaming experience.

Once the problem is experienced, there are two major choices as a solution. One is to send the console to Microsoft for repairs. It should not be a problem if it's under warranty, but if not, the repairing cost could lighten your wallet by over 100 dollars. The other solution is the do-it-yourself method; a home based self technique of repair on the console. This method could seem risky but has often been found effective in fixing the dreaded Xbox360 red rings of death.

Xbox360 3 Red Lights - What Steps To Take To Fix It Fast by gil Steiner

As you may have already seen, the Xbox 360, just like any other game console, can have problems and errors. One thing many Xbox gamers dread are the three red lights appearing. This occurs when three lights flash red on the Ring of Light on the front of your Xbox 360 console. The upper right quadrant light is the only light not flashing red, when this happens. Here is some information on Xbox360 3 red lights repair when your power supply light is showing red.

There will be times when the light on your Xbox 360's power supply turns red or completely turns off. You can spot this when the power supply light goes from green to orange to red while the system is in use. There are many possible reasons for this to happen; most likely the external power supply has detected a fault.

Thankfully, the power supply has built-in safeguards to notify you; they keep you from incurring system damage to power supply and the console both. It's good to know that, the power supply will turn itself off when there is too much current, when the voltage is too high, or when the temperature of the power supply is too high. So what Xbox360 3 red lights repair techniques can you try out? You should first test to see if the power supply unit is cool to the touch. The red light may be an indicator that the power supply is too hot. If you find that the unit is hot to the touch, let it cool down for several hours. Turn off your system and do not turn it back on until the power supply has cooled.

One tip you want to always keep handy is to ensure that the power supply to your Xbox 360 is plugged in properly. If it is plugged into an extension cord, surge protector, or power strip, the amount of voltage may not be correct. If this is your situation, you should instead plug the power supply directly into a wall outlet. The last Xbox360 3 red lights repair technique is to try using a different power cord and power supply unit. Of course, if you have another power cord and supply unit, test out your game console with these. If the game console does not power up, unfortunately, the issue is with the console itself. If none of the three Xbox360 3 red lights repair methods listed in this article work, you are going to have to pay someone your hard earned cash to get your system fixed.

Quick Solution To Your Xbox360

By George Uchegbu

If you have been having some of those "regular" problems with
your Xbox360 and have been looking for for a quick fix or
solution
, then this is going to be of help to you.The 3 common
problems experienced by this Xbox360 game ware are: firstly, the
Xbox 360 red ring can be a full ring, which means all four of the
green lights around the start button turn red, thereby preventing
the Xbox 360 from working or you being unable to play games or
DVDs. Secondly,in some cases you will discover that you have
been presented with the 3 red lights problem in your Xbox 360,
this could lead to damage of some of the electronic components
of the system. Finally, the Xbox 360 can also experience just one
red light and it also means a problem which needs fixing. By the
time you finish reading this article you would be able to fix
this problems yourself and know exactly why it happens.

The first problem of the Xbox 360 where all the four of the
green lights turn red, is as a result of the Alternating
Current(A/C) cable not working. And this can be easily fixed by
removing the cable and reconnecting it properly. Because it
could be that it is not properly connected earlier.Another
solution to this,is proper cleaning of the ends of the cable to
allow for proper contact.Sometimes, accumulation of tiny
particles or dust could also block proper contact between the
electronic components.

Secondly, the problem of 3 red lights manifesting on your Xbox
360 is basically as a result of inproper ventilation of the
system. The electronic components when at work gives out heat
and the system is designed such a way it does not retain heat
inorder not to damage the components.Sometimes, out of ignorance
you cover up the cooling vents, this makes the system abnormally
hot.The simple solution to this is to allow the system to cool
off before putting into use again.Make sure the cooling vents
are always expose to where air could penetrate inside of it, and
it is blocked by anything.

Finally, the issue of one red light turning on,is another of
this "regular" problem with quick solution. It's basically
results from hardware failure and somewhat as a result of
overheating too. Hence, proper ventilation is needed. You can
allow your Xbox 360 to rest for a while before playing another
game. Occasionally,it could be as a result of electronic
component failure and this can be fixed by a technician. But this
is in rare situations only.

Now that you know how to carry out a quick solution to this
"regular" Xbox 360 problem, the next time your Xbox 360 develop
this problem keep this solutions in mind.Specifically, remember
not to allow your Xbox 360 to overheat or accumulate dust.So get
out of your worries whenever your Xbox 360 is faced with this
problems and fix them.

How to Mod a Xbox 360

ByBai Zijian.
How to mod a Xbox360. First you will need a few things to be
able to mod a Xbox 360. You will need a Xbox, a modchip, a
PC , and a screwdriver set. First you need to know a few things
about what a modchip is and why you need it. A modchip allows
you to bypasses certain xbox 360 checks so you can play
applications, dvd-r, backups. A good modchip will have a on/off
switch so you can turn off the modchip so you can play on xbox
live.

Now you are ready to take apart and mod the xbox360. Start by
taking off the Hard Drive by pressing the button and lifting it
off the system. Then set the system upside down and place your
thumb in the memory slot holes and your fingers along the base
of the system. You then take the faceplate off slowly. The piece
should come off without any problems. Now remove the Microsoft
Seal and void your warranty. You should see tabs on each side.
These tabs keep the top and bottom pieces connected to the
system.

Now to remove the pieces you will need a small flat tip
screwdriver. You will now need to push plastic tabs within the
holes and push them in with your screwdriver. Each piece has 6
tabs. To remove the last top grey piece, you will need to remove
the rubber pad that’s covering the hole. use a spare screwdriver
to hold up the popped tabs. After the pieces have been removed,
you will see small notches on the left and right sides of the
system.

You will need a screwdriver to successfully complete this step.
Starting on the side closest to the power supply, push the
screwdriver into the space until you hear a pop. After you have
heard the pop I suggest using another screwdriver to keep the
top and bottom of the system apart. After you have completed the
left side, start on the other side and repeat the process. You
should now be able to separate the bottom portion of the system.
Now lift away the cover of your system and begin the unscrewing
process.

Unscrew all the torque screws to be able to remove the cover.
Turn over the system and remove the DVD arm and top cover. Next
you will want to disconnect the SATA and Power connectors and
the DVD will come out of the case. You have now successfully
removed your DVD drive from your Xbox and can now remove the
plastic air shoots. Reassembly is easy, just follow the steps in
reverse.

You are now ready to install the modchip. Since there are
different modchips and you need to go to the manufactures web
site for installing instructions. After installing your modchip
you will need to flash the firmware. This usually involves a usb
tool for the modchip. Download the firmware on to your PC,the
connect the usb tool and transfer the firmware from the PC to
the tool. Connect the tool to the usb connection on the modchip
and flash the modchips firmware. You will want to check the
modchips website to find out how many firmwares each chip can
hold and flashing instructions.

At this point you are ready to put everything back together and
start playing on your Xbox360. That’s how to mod a Xbox360.

Xbox 360 Red Ring of Death E74 Fix - Appropriate & Permanent Fix Exposed

By James Gerald

Hey, are you currently harassed to the core thinking that your Xbox red ring of death is constantly occurring over and over again? Well, I sure was!

Heck, I am not surprised if all gamers encountered this specific problem over and over again without a permanent fix. Why do I say this? Because they are all doing the wrong "fixing" procedure.

Here are three things in which any owner of the Xbox 360 console should avoid doing.

1. The towel trick. Have you heard of it? If you didn't then do not worry because this is the most common mistake that most Xbox 360 owners do. The last thing we want to do is put more heat into our console by wrapping it with towels, noneless this is also a very dangerous procedure.

2. Opening up an Xbox without the proper knowledge (big mistake). Yes, I have done it and I regret it because I ended up breaking the motherboard. Being desperate to fix the console can only lead to more consequences and eventually not solving the red ring of death problem or the E74 error message.

3. Taking your Xbox 360 console to a local "technician" is another common mistake. Be careful as they will take advantage of your system. They will be sneaky enough by taking parts of the Xbox's motherboard and replacing it with others.

In other words, by taking the Xbox console to someone who you don't know will significantly raise the chances of them taking advantage of your console and they will most likely charge you $80 and up for it.

How did these "technicians" learn to fix an Xbox 360 console and charge big bucks for it?

Like any of us would do, we look on the internet for a solution, a guide to help us solve that problem. YEP These technicians picked up a"guide" to fixing anything that solves the Xbox 360.

The red ring of death the E74 error and the freeze ups are all available in a solution guide that any of us can pick up in the internet now and days.

Anyhow, I do encourage you to visit the Xbox's Permanent Fix website to get expanded details on a DIY fix (Do it yourself). Getting an xbox fixed with your own hands hasn't been easier. Visit http://xboxrodrepair.info/ for more information regarding an effective permanent Xbox fix.
